Tympanoplasty
is a surgery for a ear which has been discharging
for a very long time with accompanying hearing
loss. In this procedure, the ear is opened through
a incision behind the pinna and the mastoid
and all the air cells within are opened up and
disease cleared, the hole in the diaphragm closed
with fascia and the diseased middle ear bones
are reconstructed. The patient goes home the
same day. Following the surgery, the patient
need not take bed rest. He can eat a normal
diet and travel.
